12-14-08 update

Actual Crew

1st Service

Sound: Donn
Lighting: Randy
Media Shout: Diane
Video: Nathan

2nd Service

Sound: Donn
Lighting: Randy
Media Shout: Diane
Video: Nathan

Everything went pretty well for both services

Andy Allan had a meeting the worship team and crew for overall flow of service, which really helped

People now exit off stage right instead of walk down the steps.

Our extreme grievances go to Tom Mueller's Family, as Tom past away last week, there was an amazing memorial service for him on Friday the 12th.  We'll miss him, he was awesome on Media Shout and just had a heart for the Lord and would just jump in if someone couldn't help on a Sunday morning.

Things for Christmas eve

our chapel feed is ready to go, the video balun came in last week

Forrestt will install it as soon as i give him the bnc connectors, sorry Forrestt

over all both services went real well

This week

there will be no meeting, I repeat no meeting this coming weekend

but here is a message from Donn:

Media Shout: Jason and Jim will be taking on both services on their given Sunday, meaning they will both now operate once a month.  When there is no anycast operator, media shout comes first, then imag.  Nathan will make a preset wide shot for cam 1 so that we have something to use.

Announcements: this loop of slides will be 15 min prior to kick off.

Screen turns off: TBD from Debbie as far as when we shut down.

Sop's: Donn will be making up laminated lists for each position along with quick tips for L key and child numbers.  Each position will have a list of things that need to be done prior to service kick off as well as prior to "strike" (industry terminology for leaving).

For instance the video position will have to label the dvd's prior to getting them ready to record, make sure their finalized, and put them in the communications tray, check all camera presets, reprogramming preset for worship leader.  A lot of this stuff is already being done probably but Donn is still staying another half hour after service to strike stuff.

Recruiting: Nathan will get with communications to get another announcement for help.

Saturday Night:  Randy is pretty much handling this by himself.  We need help for Media Shout regularly on this night.  No Imag needed David doesn't want to be on the screen.

Training: Wednesday Night is the time, If you want any training on anything namely L (luminance) key, (superimposing the names over Imag)  you need to be there on Wednesday night during rehearsal.  If your operating on Sunday it would be awesome if you were at rehearsal but it is understood that people can't make it.

Let's communicate, please reply to this email with your:

10-19-08 update

haven't talked to Donn in a while

and don't know who the crew was.

I do know that Forrest fixed the projector issue on Sunday morning.

I was not able to fix the audio feed in the anycast last week.

I will be at church tomorrow (wednesday to work on that).

The meeting next weekend will organized like this:
first 20 min: recap of the year and what were doing and what we'd like to do
after that: everyone puts in there suggestions about operating and questions and SOPs are made or modified.
after that: cross training - l key, media shout, light board, etc.   Shouldn't take us more than  3 hours.

2ND Service

Sound: Donn
Lights: Donn
Media Shout: Jim
Video: Nathan

What Happened:

Everything went pretty well but some things need to be looked at

1. front Projector needs to be moved to fit screen again.

2. audio going to anycast needs adjustment, its barely coming in.

Meeting on the Saturday Nov 1st (3 weeks) 9am-12noon in the sanctuary, is on schedule with the office.  I understand if not everyone can make it, but it will be awesome to have as many of us as possible. Please comment if you can or can't make it.  This meeting is going to be a reality meeting for what's been going on and of course how we can do things better and more efficient.  Please reply to this or comment on any topics you want to discuss or have questions about. There will be refreshments and such.

Randy suggested that training would be better on Wednesday night rather than Saturday.  Donn you make the call on this, I'm just a communicator.

last 3 weeks update

hey all I apologize for the delay here

September was not stop at work and October doesn't look any better. My wife and I have also been moving and remodeling.

Whats Happened:

Amps are replaced

We are welcoming Terry Rigerson back to our team, he will be helping with Media Shout.

The video extension is still in plan this week. Forrest will take care of this.

Issue that has come up is the Saturday Night Service Set and Turn for Sunday morning.
(english) Sometimes David and Matt require different things than what Sunday morning needs and that is perfectly fine. But so Donn isn't rushing to turn the room the next morning. If you are operating Saturday please make yourself available for any turn needed.

Saturday night is also being used for training on media shout. So if you'd like to learn or enhance your skills or help train, talk to Donn.

SOP's Standard Operating Procedures
would be great to have these done and posted by next month. So whenever you're operating your position make notes on what you do. I'll be pushing for a meeting in November (preferably the 1st) to let all positions talk about this.

Nathan also updated the firmware in the anycast to version 2.23 and the windows update on the PC on Wednesday.

DVD player: Nathan since he was moving returned the player to his parents (it was his dads). So there is no DVD player for now (as far as we know, there are no videos playing this weekend). Hopefully this week we'll install another one. Keaton just really needs to get refunded for the one i sent back to Sony in July.

I haven't seen the schedule for this month so I'm not sure who's doing what this weekend.

Racks: still replacing cables.

Video extension to be done this week:  Forrest has other idea how to do this

Scriptures during first service weren't on the screen time due to how they were inserted into media shout. Debbie came in during half time to fix this.

We also forgot about the song David wanted played at the end of his message. SOP's will fix this

The DVD only played during 1st service, i think because it was too choppy. Lance and Mark want it done a different way.

Actual Crew

1st Service

Sound: Donn
Lighting: Donn
Media Shout: Randy
Video: James

2ND Service

Sound: Donn
Lighting: Donn
Media Shout: Diane
Video: James

What Happened:

for the most part everything went well

The amps we received from service were locked, there computer interfaces came back locked. They were backwards, one was for the subs and one for mains.

This week:

Amps: Get all circuit boards changed out and up to date and unlocked
who: Donn is going to see if field services can do it all by Wednesday.

Booth: 1. Racks: locks for the doors
who: Forrest will try to get time to do this
     2. Video Extension: probably next week on this one

Storage Room:
    1. test everything and get rid of stuff
this will be an ongoing project

Chapel: 1. Carpet the booth
      2. home for Mic's and batteries

A Project for you all to work on (deadline by thanksgiving)

SOP Standard Operating Procedures

Everyone of us needs to right down
a step by step process of what you do when you are operating your position.
From the time you get in to the time you leave.  I mean each of us needs to do this because we may have different ways of operating on a Sunday morning.

Each Sound Tech operator will have to agree together on an SOP for Sound
Each Lighting Tech operator will have to agree together on an SOP for Lighting
Each Media Shout Tech operator will have to agree together on an SOP for Media Shout
Each Video Tech operator will have to agree together on an SOP for Video

example
sound: 1. power system up
     2. amps on
     3. grab Mic's, batteries, and toolbox
     4. etc.
even indicate when you start recording, i prefer to start recording during special music

Media shout: i keep the scriptures up the whole time, i keep the scriptures up until he doesn't refer to them, i keep the scriptures up only when he reads them (this can go any and either way, but you media shout operators have to come to an agreement)obviously if Mark says keep it up during his message you might want to keep it up.
i prefer the worship leader to come back to me and show me song list, i prefer to go over and drag him over to the booth, i can just wing it.

Video: i like using the presets, i like to go freestyle with it, i prefer to keep scripture up the whole time, i prefer to keep it up until he goes to story, I'm not really sure. I'm fine with whatever.  I choose to record at countdown, i record when sermon starts, etc.

Lance and Mark do prefer things a certain way. So we need to figure that out

So you guys get the point

You may decide that some details don't matter and are up to the operator that week. As long as you agree on that.

We need every ones SOP's so that we don't get stuck forgetting something on a chaotic Sunday morning and it can also answer questions that you may have about operating.

If anything the goal is to have these SOP's in the form of a checklist and rules for each position, so that we all know how to arrive, get started, operate during all conditions, and know when and we are actually ending the show.

sorry if i confused anyone ( i have a tendency to do that)

email these to donnzimmerman@gmail.com

8/10/08 update revised

What we got done

Booth:
1. Forrest is done building faces for racks but won't install them till we have keys for those who need keys
2. video extension: We'll build a box to put the table on next month sometime, upcoming weeks are too booked with stuff for Forrest.  It will be done though.
3. Drawers: Forrest came up with an alternative for these, we will now have another toolbox for our things we need to have in the rack.  We'll take care of this in the upcoming weeks.

Amps: they came back from repair only to learn that their circuit boards all need to be changed out with more updated ones. Forrest and Donn will swap two out per week until we have it.

Chapel:  didn't have time for anything this week
1. I will rewire the CD recorder to an aux this next week and work on getting everything else done there too.

8/3/08 update

1st Service
Sound: Brandon, Randy
Lighting: Brandon, Randy
Media Shout: Jason
Video: James

2nd Service
Sound: Brandon, Randy
Lighting: Brandon, Randy
Media Shout: Jim
Video: James

What happened

For the most part everything went really smooth in all positions.  Until half time began and the band decided to change there levels on stage which left Brandon unable to remix everything, due to an increase in stage volume.

The person's title on the testimonies should be on longer.  Nathan will take care of this

Things to do this week:

Booth:
1. make faces and locks for both audio and video racks
who: Forrest has got everything and will do this week
2. get more shelves and drawers for the racks
who: Donn and Nathan will take care of this hopefully
3. investigate Jim's idea of extending the booth (great idea Jim).  Jim's idea is to take a another table put it at booth height, on the left side and move the video area onto that, not much weight, but we just need to investigate long term possibilities.  Instead of a table a more solid block or something. It's just getting tight between media shout and video right now.
who: Donn, Forrest, Nathan, Brandon will look into this

Storage Room:
1. go through and test everything, so we know what we really have
who: i have no idea, we'll get to it though (on going project)

Chapel:
1. home for batteries, Mic's
2. carpet the floor
3. drawer for the rack
who: don't know yet

Status: done

Mic's (wireless receivers): moved behind stage
Status: not gunna do it, Forrest colored coded the receivers so, there would be no point
